Tamang Heritage Trek [VATHT08]


 

Developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program (RPAP), the "Tamang Heritage Trail" is the newly developed tourism product, off the beaten track, which highlights an ancient lifestyle combining it with picturesque scenery and healing baths in natural hot springs. 

1
Day 1

Drive out along the north-western hills of Kathmandu. Enjoy the Himalayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. From Dhunche, we descend down to Syabrubesi. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 2

From Syabru, hike across the Goljung Village.  Enjoy the views of the Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, Langtang Lirung among others. Gatlang is a small village on the hillside with the traditional stone houses. Overnight at homestay.

Day 3

Today's trek with a descent to Thangbuchet. Enjoy the magnificent views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Ranges. Passing by the Chilime Hydropower dam, we ascend the trail until we reach Tatopani. Tatopani literally means 'hot water' in Nepali owing to the natural hot springs there. Take a dip into the natural hot water to relax tired muscles. Overnight homestay.

Day 4

Today`s trek to Thuman via Brimdang and Nagthali. Passing through the dense alpine forest reaches the small Tamang settlement of Brimdang. Then a few hours walk uphill to Nagthali hill offering mesmerizing views of Langtang, Sanjen,  Kerung, Ganesh Himal ranges. Trek downhill to the Tamang village of Thuman for overnight at homestay.

Day 5

Today's trekking offers an opportunity to observe Tibeto Burman Tamang culture on the two villages on the way.Visit Historical Rashuwagadhi. Timure is on the old trade route to Tibet. A fort here is a historical reminder of the Nepal Tibetan relations that has existed for many centuries. A suspension bridge here links Nepal and Tibet. Overnight at homestay.

Day 6

Today`s trek offer an to witness Tamang Heritage on the way to Briddim,  a Tibetan Buddhist village on lap of Langtang Himal. Visit the Dukchu Gomba monastery. Most of the houses in Briddim are stone houses. Inhabited by mostly the people of Tibetan origin, Briddim resembles a typical Tibetan village on this side of Tibet. Overnight at homestay.

Day 7

Trekfrom Briddim to Syabrubesi via Wangel. The trail moves gentle descent passing through villages, terraces and magnificent views of surrounded hills.Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 8

After morning breakfast, drive back to Kathmanduand transer to the hotel.
