Langtang Trek[VALT16]


A wonderful experience of walking through a naturalist's trail nestled at the foot of magnificent Himalayan ranges, secluded and filled with natures bounty making it all the more attractive.

Day 1

Early drive from Kathmandu to Dunche, offering great view of Gheng(6581m), Langtang Lirung(7246m)to the north and Ganesh peak(7460m) to the west. Overnight at the local Lodge.

Day 2

The trek begins with crossing the Trisuli river, which drains away from the Gosainkunda Lake. The trail passes through some beautiful Chir and Blue pine forest filled with wildlife before reaching to Syabru. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 3

The trail crosses to the north bank and climbs steeply for a ½ hour up through the Langtang gorge before the ascent eases and the valley widens out into an area of fir and rhododendron leading to Lama Hotel for overnight.

Day 4

Today`s trek begins with a descend towards steep forest slope to the Langtang River. Crossing a bridge and heading up with a winding path the trail descends into a valley to cross a stream and climbs past several water-driven mills and prayer wheels to the large settlement of Langtang Village. Overnight at the local lodge

Day 5

The trail passes through the tiny village, stone-built houses and climb to a Chorten and passed a huge mani along a gentle path of a hill. The valley relocates to a U-shaped one as you enter into a level of riverbed. Today is short walk; allowing time to acclimatize and explore the surrounding.This place is famous for cheese and curd. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 6

A day rest for acclimatisation and rest or optional climb to Kyanjin Ri (4773m/15659ft) and Tserko Ri (4984m/16351ft) are the good views of the langtang Lirung, Langtang range, Kinshung, Yansa Tsenji and the foot of the huge lirung Glacier. Overnight at the local lodge.


Day 7

After visiting Kyanjin Monastery, an excellent look-out can be reached by climbing the slopes immediately behind the Kyangjing Gompa. A visit to Yala Cheese factory (15,800 ft.) and the small lake at 16,000 ft. beyond Yala is worthwhile. Then to Ghoretabela via same route. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 8

Trek descends all the way passing various oaks forest and follows the rivers with suspense bridges to reach the Bamboo for overnight.

Day 9

From Bamboo the trail is little bit descending up to the Pahiro and then climbs up to reach to Thulo Syabru. On the way various animals like monkey, bear, and various species of birds can be spotted. This place is the settlement of Tamangs and also famous as Tamang village with monasteries and stupas. Overnight at the local lodge.


Day 10

The broad trail climbs up to Dimsa village and continues less steeply, through rhododendron, hemlock and Oak forests to Sing Gomba. On the way of offers fantastic views of Langtang Himal and langtang valley. Explore the famous cheese factory. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 11

The trail ascends smoothly through rhododendron covered point to the top of the rim and through a forested area. The area in-between Shin gomba and Laurebina Yak is a sanctuary for the red panda, an endangered species that the Nepalese call cat bear.The trail returns to the ridge path and climb a wider route through alpine country to arrive at a Gosainkunda. Explore around the Lakes and overnight at the local lodge.

Day 12

Today is a bit challenge day; the trail is climb, rough and crosses moraines. Passing three more small lakes, the trail ascend and cross Laurebina La (4,609m/15,121ft) after the pass, the path down to phedi and continue up and down through out crossing a rocky hill with pine, rhododendron trees to Ghopte. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 13

descend into a thick forest of rhododendrons today, the trail climbs and drops over the moraine before thr final ascent to Therapati. then Then the trail is easy descent through flower strewn meadows before arriving at Magengoth at 3150m, a very remote area of high pastures and forestry. The trail descends gradually to steeper down to Kutumsang.Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 14

Descend further today through more meadows for a long day. The trail crosses the pass at 2620m before dropping to a little traditional Tamang village at 2130m. From here continue Thodang Betini (2100m) and up to Jhogin Danda Ridge at 2470m followed by a steep descent to Chipling (2170m), finally one last ascent to Chisapani. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 15

The trek starts to Chauki Bhanjag then continue the charming trails lead 3 hours toward Nagarkot offers  the Himalaya range, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 16

Drive to Kathmandu for approx 1 hour and transfer to the hotel.
