Annapurna Base Camp[VAABC14]

Day 1

Fly/Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m) a beautiful valley set on the banks of the Phewa Lake, Pokhara is also known for its panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchare (shape of fish tail) in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu in the east. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu, hence providing the perfect starting point for our trek. Overnight Hotel

Day 2

We begin our trek at Nayapul after a 1-hour drive on a private vehicle from Pokhara. After a short 15-minute walk along the banks of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1,015m) a large village with many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues through the village and follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. The trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1,495m and after a short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1512m/4961ft. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 3

Leaving Tikhedunga, we begin our journey with a steep climb to Ulleri. Ulleri is a large Magar village at 2,070m. The trail then continues to ascend more gently, through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti at 2,250m. We trek towards Nangethanti at 2,460m. After an hour of walk this brings you to Ghorepani at 2855m/9367ft. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 4

Wake up early morning and hike an hour to Poonhill (3195m) and enjoy the Panoramic Mountain Views & beautiful Sunrise View. Trek down to Ghorepani for breakfast and start approx 6 hrs trek to Tadapani at 2700m/8858ft. The trail climbs along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali. We descend to reach Banthanti, before winding our way to Tadapani for overnight at the local lodge.

Day 5

The trails drops down from Tadapani through dense rhododendron forest till Chiule where a few lodges are located. A maze of small paths leads down through the terraced fields to a big suspension bridge over the Kimrong Khola. From the bridge, the trail climbs past the school and along terraces to the little village of Klisigo Chiukle. After a series of waterfalls, the trail climbs and contours along the terraces to join the main Ghandrung-Chomrong route to Chhomrong at an elevation of 1951m/6401ft. overnight at the local lodge.

Day 6

The trail goes along the Modi Khola leaving behind inhabited foothills into the high step and wooded slopes of the Himalayas.Crossing the suspension bridge and tek up brings to Sinuwa Danda. The ascent from Sinuwa becomes somewhat flatter. The trail passes through a thick and dark rhododendron forest up to Khuldighar. Then, descend long and steep stone steps into deep bamboo and rhododendron forests through to Doban at 2200m/7218ft. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 7

The day starts with a gentle gradual ascent following the trail above the river through thick bamboo, oak and rhododendron forests up the side of the canyon. Passing by Himalaya Hotel and crossing two streams over small bridges the trail passes through solitary place. There is also the possibility of seeing a variety of wildlife species such as wild pigs, deer, and maybe even snow leopards. Climb again to Hinko Cave, an overhanging rock, further climb paves the way to Deurali for Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 8

The trek starts with a gentle climb through a river bed and then a steep climb over to the mountain side. There are avalanche prone areas at some point on the trail.  The hike to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is somewhat strenuous but the unfolding view of the majestic Machhapuchhre is certainly a rewarding experience. At this juncture,  views of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gangapurna and, of course, the Fishtail or Machhapuchhre itself is awesome. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 9

On the way to Annapurna Base Camp, the vegetation disappears and come accors the snow boulders melting and forming small streams. The path widens as while entering the sanctuary. There are sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above the sanctuary. Annapurna Base Camp sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding the 360-degree panorama. After arrival at this view site, offers mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna south, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 10

The trail descends from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo back through Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, and Dovan until Bamboo. Heading back down to the valley is much easier than climbing up. Trail further pass through the forests with great views of Fishtail and Hiunchuli mountains while trekking to Bambo. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 11

From Bamboo, head for a steep ascent to the Kuldi Ghar and then to Sinuwa following the stone steps that lead to Lower Chhomrong. Then ascend on the thousand stone steps taking to Upper Chhomrong and descend to Jhinu Danda to take an opportunity to enjoy hot springs just 15-min walk . Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 12

After breakfast, we continue along the trail to Pothana. From the village, there is an excellent view of Machhapuchhure peak. Overnight at the local lodge.

Day 13

Walk in a beautiful forests as descending into the village of Phedi. From Phedi, drive 30 mins to Pokhara. Overnight Hotel.

Day 14

Fly/Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
